OnStation & TransTech Systems Integration FAQs
Frequently asked questions about the integration
General
Q: What is the OnStation & TransTech Systems integration?
The integration connects TransTech's PQI 380 and PQI 380+ non-nuclear asphalt density gauges with OnStation's digital stationing platform. This allows for seamless transfer of compaction data, enhancing project accuracy and efficiency.
Q: What do I need to set up the integration?
- An active TransTech Connect subscription.
- A compatible device: PQI 380 or PQI 380+.
- A minimum of 1 OnStation data license to view/export data out.
- A purchase of the integration.
Q: Can OnStation support set up the integration for me?
Due to SOC compliance, certain steps must be performed by the customer. However, OnStation support can guide you through the process via Teams or screen sharing.
Q: Should I share my ClientID with others?
No. Your ClientID is sensitive information and should not be shared externally to maintain security protocols.
Device Compatibility and Usage
Q: Which devices are compatible with the integration?
Both the PQI 380 and PQI 380+ are compatible.
Q: What's the difference between PQI 380 and PQI 380+?
- PQI 380: Allows data export via USB. Measurements are saved as CSV files, which can be uploaded to TransTech Connect and then synced with OnStation.
- PQI 380+: Features instant data transfer. After taking a measurement, a QR code appears on the gauge. Scanning this code with the TransTech Connect mobile app automatically uploads the data, which can then be synced with OnStation.
PQI 380 Device
Q: How long will the PQI 380 last on a full charge?
8–10 hours, depending on usage.
Q: When should I charge my PQI 380?
When the voltage indicator on the status bar reads 6.5 volts. It’s also a good idea to charge the PQI 380 at the end of the workday.
Q: How long does it take to recharge the PQI 380?
Approximately 4 hours.
Q: Will the PQI 380 operate while charging?
No, the device cannot be used while charging. However, an external battery charger and second battery pack are available.
Q: How will I know when the PQI 380 is fully charged?
When the LED indicator on the back of the gauge turns from red to green.
Q: Should the PQI 380 remain in its original shipped case?
Yes. Each case includes a standardization plate that is unique to that specific gauge.
Q: Is it necessary to calibrate the PQI 380 annually?
Yes, TransTech recommends annual calibration.
Q: Is the PQI 380 case waterproof?
Yes.
Q: Can the PQI 380 be used to measure core samples from a job site?
No.
Data Management
Q: How do I sync data from TransTech Connect to OnStation?
- For PQI 380: Upload the CSV file to TransTech Connect, then manually sync the data to OnStation.
- For PQI 380+: After scanning the QR code, data is automatically uploaded to TransTech Connect. From there, it can be synced with OnStation.
Q: How do I link projects between TransTech Systems and OnStation?
- Log into the OnStation Portal at portal.onstationapp.com.
- Navigate to Integrations > API Enabled Projects.
- Click on Add Project to enable OnStation projects to receive data from TransTech Connect.
Q: Can OnStation support assist with project linking?
Yes. OnStation admins can assist with project linking if provided with a written list of the projects to be associated. Contact support via email, support ticket, or text at 216-503-8554.

Q: I don't see the "Configure OnStation Integration" option in TransTech Connect. What should I do?
If this option isn't visible, contact your TransTech representative to ensure your subscription includes integration capabilities.
Q: My data isn't appearing in OnStation after syncing. What could be the issue?
Ensure that:
- The API key has access to the desired projects in TransTech Connect.
- The projects are correctly linked in the OnStation Portal.
- Data has been successfully uploaded to TransTech Connect.
If issues persist, contact OnStation support for assistance.
