Setup & Configuration of FleetWatcher & OnStation Integration
These are the steps that must occur for the integration between OnStation and FleetWatcher.
Integrating FleetWatcher with OnStation streamlines the process of capturing and managing material dump tickets. This guide provides a high-level overview of the requirements and steps necessary to set up the integration.
Prerequisites
Before initiating the integration, ensure the following:
- FleetWatcher Integration : The OnStation Add on for the FleetWatcher Integration must be purchased.
- OnStation License: An active OnStation license with integration capabilities. Customers need a minimum of 1 data license to view/export the Material Dump data from OnStation.
- FleetWatcher: Must have the OnStation Integration enabled. Shifts are required in order for the integration to work. Trucks need to be tracked on the shift LCA as well. Contact your FleetWatcher Rep for more information. If you're not sure who to contact at FleetWatcher, you can also reach out to OnStation Support and we can reach out on your behalf.
Integration Setup Steps
Note: Due to SOC compliance, certain steps must be performed by the customer.
- Generate API Key in OnStation:
- Log into the OnStation Portal at portal.onstationapp.com.
- Navigate to Integrations > API Settings.
- Click on Create API Key under "Manage the API keys and third-party integrations for your organization."
2. Configure Integration in FleetWatcher:
Security Reminder: Do not share your ClientID with external parties, including OnStation support, to maintain security protocols. The API KEY that gets generated unique identifier that a developer uses to authenticate and authorize a program's access to an API, acting like a password for your organization. DO NOT SHARE THIS IN A SCREENSHOT WITH US OR OTHERS OUTSIDE OF YOUR ORGANIZATION OUTSIDE OF A SECURE METHOD ESTABLISHED WITH ONSTATION OR FLEETWATCHER.
-
- Log into OnStation Portal - Integrations - Manage the API Keys and third party integrations for your organization click on the the "CREATE API KEY" button.
Note that this user must have either Administrator or Integration Manager Role access in the OnStation Portal.

- Once the API Key is generated from OnStation, you will want to reach out to your FleetWatcher Account Manager. You will want to ask them to send you a secure link so you can send the API Key securely and work with them to enable your OnStation Integration from the FleetWatcher side. If you don't know who to contact on the FleetWatcher side, we can help with this but need you to reply that you grant us permission to work with FleetWatcher to send this API info securely on your behalf to get set up.
After the configuration is set up, shifts are required within your FleetWatcher configuration in order for the integration to work. Trucks need to be tracked on the shift LCA as well.
- Log into OnStation Portal - Integrations - Manage the API Keys and third party integrations for your organization click on the the "CREATE API KEY" button.
Project Linking
To link projects between TransTech Connect and OnStation:
- In the OnStation Portal, navigate to Integrations > API Enabled Projects.
- Click on Add Project to enable OnStation projects to receive Material Dump data from FleetWatcher integration. This will add any projects already in the OnStation system to be enabled to receive data from FleetWatcher.
- Note you will need to ensure these projects are set up in FleetWatcher System.
- For any new projects that you are submitting to OnStation you will see a checkbox option for FleetWatcher project information. If you anticipate their might be Material Dump data sent for that project, check that box and let us know the FleetWatcher project code and description. When that project is released, it will automatically be added to your API Enabled Projects under the Portal -> Integration menu. As reviewed in the above steps, you still have the ability to manually add and delete but with this process here, we automatically associate for you once the project is released.
Viewing Material Dump Data
To view the FleetWatcher Material Dump data sent to OnStation for a given project, you (or someone at your organization configured as a OnStation Portal Manager and having a Data License) would follow the below steps:
